“I came to see Owen after I injured my back and my shoulder at work. I was in pain every day, and I didn’t know if I need to quit my job. I was very frustrated because traditional physical therapy alleviated only part of my pain, and doctors recommended me to start steroids shots. In addition, I was doing acupuncture and yoga, but still continued to struggle with the pain.
After I started kettlebell training with gradual increase in intensity of exercises I started to feel stronger, my abdominal muscles were able to support my back, and I do not have any pain even after working 12 hours shifts at my job. I even feel much younger, my coordination is much better, and even my reflexes started to be much faster. It is an amazing change. And I can say for sure, that even when I was 18 years old, I have never felt as good and as young as now.
Congratulations! You're steps away from a happier healthier you! Please share your fitness goals and/or health interests below so I can prepare a routine that best meets your needs. Dont have all the answers? No problem! Just fill out what you can or give us a ring!
Being able to lift heavy weights overhead takes extreme amounts of full body strength, stability and mobility. Plus, it looks impressive hoisting heavy objects overhead. When I view pressing strength I’m focused on relative strength. Being strong relative to your body weight is an indication of overall fitness. For guys doing a half body weight[...]
When I first got started with kettlebells I did so in an attempt to fix two very achy shoulders. After years of heavy bench presses left my shoulders completely wrecked. I couldn’t sleep through the night without waking up with pain. Rather than going to physical therapy, I decided to fix them myself…I don’t condone[...]
We are all different shapes and sizes, therefore our squat depths will vary some, but if your version of a squat reaches the depth of a bar stool, you’re doing it wrong. With proper focus and drills we all should be able to reach at least hip to knee depth and most people much lower.[...]
The kettlebell swing, hands down, is the best full-body strength and conditioning exercise you can do. It will melt fat away, build a rock solid core, and help alleviate pain, but ONLY when done properly. The sad truth is that swings are used far too much as a conditioning tool for fat loss, rather than[...]
In a world of excess, we can get caught up in thinking that doing more is better, especially with our approach to our fitness goals. Doing things like… Training more Doing excessive cardio Eating less and less Training high intensity all the time Eliminating carbs for long periods of time and so on… Unfortunately, your[...]
I’m often asked, “what is your favorite ab exercise?” That’s a tough question considering each ab exercise has a different purpose, but I’d have to say it is the ab wheel. When done properly the ab wheel rollouts will leave any mid-section sore for days upon first use. Over time they will become easier, but[...]
Do you want to flatten your belly before the summer? Would you feel more confident going to the beach with a slimmer mid-section? You can have it and in time for summer too! It’s pretty simple, all you have to do is train your transverse abdominis properly. What’s the transverse? The transverse, or “corset muscle”,[...]
When it comes to kettlebell exercises, the clean might be one of the most difficult exercises for a beginner to learn. Between the banging of the wrist and the proper use of the hips to move the kettlebell, most people have a steep learning curve with the clean. Here is a picture of a kettlebell[...]
